From Rosa Atencio, WIC Coordinator:
“Good nutrition is of utmost importance during pregnancy and in the early years of life. It is essential for the critical brain development in young children, and can make a lifelong difference in a person’s health. I am proud when the WIC program is able to help many families in Coos County with guidance to improve their nutrition and health. This year, an estimated 630 of the over 2200 clients served locally will benefit from this special nutritional counseling service.”
Support Families in Need
This year’s fundraising proceeds will help expecting moms, newborns, and young children who receive services through the Women, Infants and Children’s (WIC) program at Coos Health and Wellness. The money we raise will provide them with nutritional counseling by a registered dietitian. This service is provided virtually on-line in the client’s home or in the WIC office. Federal funds for our local WIC program do not adequately provide for this important service, which is why it is a priority for our fundraising efforts this year.
