Greetings!

Coos County Friends of Public Health will hold our 11th annual fall fundraiser, Purses for Nurses, on Saturday, October 22nd. Our Board members are so pleased that we can have an in-person event this year. We are thankful for everyone who has supported us in the past and invite you to join with us to be a donor.

This year’s proceeds will contribute towards funding one of the Babies First home-visiting nurses at Coos Health & Wellness. Additional funding is needed to restart this important service which was suspended during the pandemic, and our fundraising efforts will help to provide 350 home visits for families in need. These community health nurses help low-income families with infants and young children, and often these families are challenged with multiple issues. The nurses assist by teaching parenting skills, providing guidance on newborn care, assessing the child for optimal growth and development, connecting families to resources they need, and much more. Parents are so grateful for this valuable help at such an important time in the life of their child.

The Purses for Nurses fundraiser, which will be held at the Black Market Gourmet, includes a silent auction of purses filled with donations from local businesses and supporters. Your donation of a gift certificate, or product from your business or organization, is not only supporting a good cause, it is also an opportunity for you to receive recognition for your business. Also, because our organization is a 501c3 charitable organization, your contribution can be tax deductible under the federal tax code.

We are expecting to have 80 people attend our luncheon on October 22 and help us raise at least $10,000 to serve families. Please consider joining us in our efforts! If you would like to contribute, please respond with your donation and attached form by October 5, 2022.
